Can I go into Acting/modeling?

  • I really want to be a model or an actress. I've taken modeling and acting classes, but I'm wondering if I have to right look. Help?!

  • you can go into acting/modeling. The "right look" depends on the person who is casting you for work. My best advice is do it and not worry. Casting directors are always looking and the right look, doesn't exist, it's how you carry yourself professionally and I mean personality, attitude, and how serious you take the profession.

  • haha to the comment before this. I wish acting was about talent these days, to much type-casting goes on in hollywood, and on broadway, too, just less so.
In regards to the question, can't see the picture, so I won't address modeling. The thing with acting is that I see a lot of people that rely on imitations to achieve acting. Really study it. Books I would recommend are Three Uses of The Knife by David Mamet. Meisner on Acting by Sanford Meisner. No Acting Please by Eric Morris. and Irreverent Acting by Eric Morris.
If you want to take this seriously, know every aspect of the business.

  • I can't see the picture, but if you are not at least 5'8" you are better off concentrating on acting.

  • First of all you might want to clarify which one you want. Acting and modelling are very different worlds. Acting needs more talent but doesn't matter so much what you look like, modelling is less talent, more looks and confidence. If you want it, don't feel the need to ask people if you should, that's something you decide.
